Kamau, pronounced /ka ma oo/, was born and raised in Pittsburgh, where he received his BS from the University of Pittsburgh in Interdisciplinary Studies. He studied black & white photography, graphic design, and filmmaking at Pittsburgh Filmmakers. Kamau has found constant inspiration from the many creative legends of his hometown such as artist Andy Warhol, playwright August Wilson, and photographer Teenie Harris. Similar to Warhol and Wilson, he enjoys the energy of his new home in New York City, where he is active in photography and film circles. When Kamau is not behind the scenes planning an event or behind a camera composing a shot, he is spending time with his loving family (and cat) in the planet of Brooklyn.
